Roche is a leading global pharmaceuticals company who attended many different congresses each year taking a large number of doctors on its behalf. Traditionally, a paper brochure was used to communicate the programme and events of the trip. As the USP of Roche is innovation, a website and mobile application was developed to give to delegates ahead of the congress. Originally a utility for attendees to manage their congress activities, the project has developed into a wider application that now facilities communication between doctors during the congress and after the event to increase the speed of information dissemination.
As the end product could be used before by doctors on their desktop computers in the office, while travelling or at the congress itself, a responsive site that would work on all devices had to be created. Due to the tight nature of the timelines a complete set of wireframes across 4 break points was created in order to ensure all parties knew the exact functionality of the application.
Working closely with designers and developers in a participatory design fashion, the clean and intuitive interface was created to match the experience level and use cases for the application.
The application was build in three weeks as a pilot and went on to be used at a number of conferences after the initial event.
The following was created by us to show case across the business and gain funding for more versions.
The final application worked on desktops and mobile devices. Using a simple interface based on the mobile device operating system to reduce any learning curves, the application was well received and used widely throughout the conferences. And yes, it even worked on a Blackberry!
